Reader Recommended Churches

One of the great joys of this ministry is helping people find doctrinally sound churches to get plugged into. An awesome resource for finding good churches is my readers, especially my social media and blog followers, whose recommendations I continue to add on to the list below.

If you’re looking for a church in a certain area,
scroll down to the list.

Also, be sure to check out the
church search engines and other resources
at the Searching for a new church? tab
in the blue menu bar at the top of this page.

Please read ALL of the information in this section before recommending a church. Recommendations which do not meet these requirements will not be accepted.

If you’ve got a personal connection to a doctrinally sound church and would like to publicly recommend it, you can do so in the comments section of this article. Please include the website of the church you’re recommending. (Churches submitted without websites will not be considered for inclusion on the list.)

Due to doctrinal issues, at this time I am not accepting recommendations for:

  • United Methodist Churches
  • Calvary Chapel churches (continuationist)
  • Christian and Missionary Alliance (CMA) churches (continuationist, egalitarian, social justice)
  • Continuationist churches
  • Churches that consider Calvinism/Reformed theology to be false teaching
  • KJV Only churches (Churches which consider the King James Version to be the only acceptable and/or inspired translation of the Bible. Churches which merely prefer using the KJV are fine.)
  • Any church that uses music from Bethel, Jesus Culture, Hillsong, Elevation, anyone connected with these groups, Catholics, non-Christians, or any other contemporary musician who isn’t doctrinally sound.
  • Any church that uses or recommends books and materials from false teachers. (This now includes churches recommending or affiliated with The Gospel Coalition.)
  • Any church that violates Scripture’s teaching on the role of women in the church (1 Timothy 2:11-3:7). This includes, but is not necessarily limited to: churches with a female bearing the title of “pastor” (of anything) or “elder,” churches which allow women to function in pastoral roles without the title of pastor / elder (for example: female ministers of music or worship leaders; discipleship “facilitators” or “directors” who essentially function as elders / associate pastors, and so on), churches which allow women to preach to, hold unbiblical authority over, or instruct men or co-ed groups in the Scriptures (for example: teaching / co-teaching co-ed adult Sunday School / Bible study classes or home / small groups).
  • Any church that does not have a detailed statement of faith (“What we believe,” “Doctrinal statement,” etc.) or link to such,
  • Any church that does not have the pastor’s name (and pastoral staff / elders, if any) listed on its website.
  • Any church that does not have a website (a social media page alone is not enough).

Thank you for recommending your church!

See a church that shouldn’t be on the list?

Please keep in mind that this list has been in existence since 2017. Unfortunately, a few of the churches listed below may have taken an unbiblical turn since that time. If you see a church listed that you know for a fact isn’t doctrinally sound, please email me or post a comment to let me know, and provide specific evidence.

Examples of “isn’t doctrinally sound” include, but are not limited to: holding/practicing an unbiblical view of homosexuality, allowing women to serve as pastors, elders, or other positions of teaching/holding authority over men, a pattern of using Bible study materials authored by false teachers, a pattern of using music from heretical sources, New Apostolic Reformation, Critical Race Theory, social justice tendencies/teachings, significant and ongoing ungodly behavior by the pastor or church members, etc.

*A few of the churches on the list have deaconesses / female deacons. There is biblical support for this position (please click here for more information) in some cases, and this does not necessarily mean the church is doctrinally unsound or feminist. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the church directly to discuss this with the pastor.

DISCLAIMER: I cannot personally vouch for the theology of any of the churches recommended nor the people who recommended them. Please use this list only as a suggestion of churches to check out using biblical wisdom and discernment. (Concerns about deaconesses/female deacons? See * above.)

Churches outside the United States are toward the end of this list. Click on the name of the church for the church’s web site.

Some of the churches below may belong to networks or denominations with churches in other cities / areas which are not listed below. I have not vetted the theology of any denominational or church network not specifically listed below, but looking up the websites of those denominations / networks and vetting their theology yourself (see “What to look for in a church” here) may help you find a church in a location that’s not listed below.

503 thoughts on “Reader Recommended Churches”

  1. I want to recommend my church in Bremerton Washington. They are committed to expository teaching of the word. It is an absolute gem that is tucked away in a run down neighborhood near the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. It’s called Faith Community Bible Church, and the pastor’s name is Mark Barrett. My family used to attend church is that were more charismatic, but the Lord opened our eyes up to the truth, and this church has been phenomenal. No church is perfect, but we know that we are getting the truth here.

  2. In addition to the church that we attend regularly, I would also like to recommend a church that we visited while hunting in the area. It was a little too far away for us, but they are absolutely committed to preaching the Word in an expository way. The pastor is SOLID and has no problem speaking out against all the false teachings that we see running rampant in the church today. Calvary Church in Port Orchard Washington

  3. I attended Michelle’s conference in New Jersey today and would like to find a new church. I now realize the Catholic Church is not right for me. I live in Levittown,PA 19057. Thank you

      1. Lori- A reader named Grace who lives in your area had the following suggestions:

A reader in Pennsylvania shares these recommendations:

Carl Trueman’s church in Ambler, PA
*Faith Bible (a Grace Advance church) in Jackson NJ*
Calvary Community (Grace Advance) in East Millstone, NJ

I live nearby and I am sorry to say there is nothing closer that teaches the whole counsel of God. We are in a dry area of the country. Try them all and pray for wisdom:) Thanks! Grace”

*A pastor friend of mine in the area tells me that Faith Bible has either closed or been taken over by another church. Might want to check that out.

  4. Copperfield Bible Church. Pastor is Dan Phillips. It is located in Houston, Texas. Dan is a writer on the Pyromaniacs blog, along with his close friend Phil Johnson. Fantastic reformed church. Non denominational.

  5. Here’s one for WV: First Baptist Church of Wellsburg. Pastor Michael D. Martin (Masters Seminary grad). Excellent/careful expositor of the Word.

  6. Here is a doctrinally sound church in South Carolina. It is one of the churches planted by The Master’s Seminary due to so many asking John MacArthur where one can be found. My family and I travel 45 minutes to attend.

  7. Michelle,
I am thankful for this resource. I have a Catholic friend that visited my church, Beth Haven Baptist Church, Cheat Lake area in Morgantwon, West Virginia, and heard the doctrines of Grace, a solid preaching by Pastor David Coe, and now she is back to the area where she works in Romney, West Virginia. She desires to go to church but I am not familiar with the area or if there is any reformed church even 25 miles away. Does any of the members here has any info? thanks so much!!

    1. Hi Nadua- Be sure to have her check out the “Searching for a new church?” tab up at the very top of this page. There are lots of church location search engines there that could help. Also, I have a Facebook friend who lives in WV, but I’m not sure which city. I’ll ask her if she has any suggestions.

      1. Nadua- I checked with my friend, but she is not familiar with the Romney area and didn’t have any recommendations. I hope your friend can find a good church through the search engines. :0)

  8. Hi, I would like to recommend Richardson Baptist Church in Franklinton Louisiana. They are on Facebook and sermon audio. It is a reformed Baptist Church that holds to the 1689 Baptist confession. The preaching and teaching is expository. We are a small church out in the country of Franklinton Louisiana.

      1. Hi Sarah- Thank you so much for taking the time to recommend Safe Haven/Covenant. I regret that I can’t add it to the list as it holds to continuationism. As mentioned above, I don’t recommend continuationist churches. Thanks again! :0)

  9. Please add Grace Church Of Tallahassee in Tallahassee, Florida to your list of recommended churches. Justin did a conference at our church several years ago.

      1. Here are some of the more recent issues with Calvary Chapel that have caused me to err on the side of caution and decline to recommend them. I realize that some CC churches disagree with the unbiblical direction CC leadership has decided to go in and have broken away from the CC organization, which is fine. I’m totally OK with recommending former CC churches that left for this reason. However, some CC churches that have broken away have kept “Calvary Chapel” in the name of their church. They’re certainly welcome to do that, but it makes it impossible for someone like me to tell simply from their website whether they’re in agreement with CC leadership or not, and I do not have time to track down each of these churches and interview the pastor about their doctrine. So if they still have “Calvary Chapel” in the name of the church, or if it’s clear that they’re still in partnership with the CC organization, I’m going to decline to recommend them.

A second issue is that I have looked at some of the founding documents establishing the CC organization (provided by a CC church), and it seems that one of their basic doctrines for the organization is continuationism (the belief that the sign gifts continue today). If a church is a member of the CC organization, I have no choice but to assume that church embraces continuationism. I believe that continuationism is unbiblical, so I do not knowingly recommend continuationist churches.

      2. Thank you for pointing me to this information. I did not know this…I have had inklings of misgivings after attending a Calvary Chapel for about 12 years but couldn’t really put my finger on the issue until our pastor went off the deep end committing adultery and stepping down. I hate to say I have not been able to trust ANY church since then and haven’t been attending anywhere. I know I need to be in fellowship and am so torn. I live in Arizona now and see only three recommended churches in this huge state. One is near me so will try to give it a go.

      3. I’m so sorry that happened. I’ve experienced similar things in churches. It can be very devastating. It’s great that you’re going to give that church a try! I hope everything will go well and that it will be a wonderful worship experience. Don’t forget to click the “Searching for a new church?” tab at the top of this page- there are several church search engines linked there and you will probably be able to find more good churches near you. Blessings on your search for a new church home! :0)

  10. I can personally recommend Walsh Baptist Church, 10 minutes southwest of Simcoe, in the village of Walsh, Ontario Canada. Our pastor is like a modern day Charles Spurgeon, right on down to the heavy beard, but more importantly of course, he preaches doctrinally sound, theologically robust sermons, all the while drawing his congregation’s focus to the gospel of Jesus Christ in all it’s fullness. Website is:

    1. Thank you so much for taking the time to make a recommendation. I’m sure it’s a fine church, but I only recommend churches with men in leadership positions such as minister of music (or whatever that position may be titled). I’ve explained a bit more about that here in case you’d like more information.

  11. I have a church you can add for the 25 churches for Christmas. We have been going to this church for a couple of years now and are so thankful for the pastors commitment to preach the full word of God. It is on Brandon Manitoba canada. It is called Faith Fellowship Baptist Church. Web address is

      1. I would like to recommend a church in south west Louisiana.
This is our home church, we (my husband) were sent out for ministry to another state. We love our church, very faithful minister and people! Just want to get them out there so people in the area can find it. 💕

DeRidder Presbyterian Church in DeRidder, Louisiana

  12. I would like to add my reformed church, Grace Community Church in Broken Arrow, OK, to your list of recommended churches. The website is:
Our Pastor is Doug Heck and he is a graduate of The Master’s Seminary where Dr. John MacArthur is president. I also highly recommend his wife, Susan, for her bible studies and also as a speaker. You can read about her on the above website, as well as her own website:
To date, she has memorized every book of the New Testament except Luke which she will memorize this year.
Pastor Doug is an accomplished expository preacher and preaches one book of the bible, one verse at a time. Our church is full of the love of Christ and has been a wonderful blessing to my husband and me. We have to drive an hour to get to our church, but it is well worth every minute.
Thank you for considering this addition to your list.

    Linda Collier

  13. I would like to recommend my church, Heritage Baptist Church, in Salem, OH. We are in the process of putting together a website. Thank you for this resource! I would also like to recommend if you haven’t listened to it already the G3 Conference. My husband just got back from it and there is a lot of great teaching there every year. Some of this years speakers included Paul Washer, Todd Friel, Conrad Mbewe, Voddie Baucham, Phil Johnson, Steven Lawson and Tim Challies to name a few. You can listen to past conferences at Have a wonderful day!

  14. I want to recommend my church, Redemption City Church, located in Rochester, MN. Website here:

Redemption is a new-ish church plant, SBC-affiliated. I’m thankful for their exegetical preaching, their unwavering devotion to Scripture as the only source of truth, their desire for the name of Jesus to be made known among the nations, and their continual declaration of the gospel of Christ as our only saving grace. After moving to Rochester (straight out of college, from a different state!) for a new job, it took me months to find a church. One Sunday here, and I was done searching. Like any church, we are not without our issues and conflicts. But doctrine is sound, and for that I’m grateful.

I’m also new here and have been greatly convicted by some of what I’ve found here. Thank you for your devotion to truth and ultimately to Christ!

  15. I would like to recommend Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, VA: The lead teaching pastor, Jesse Johnson, is a graduate of The Master’s Seminary. Pastor Jesse has edited a number of publications, including the John MacArthur Pastor’s Library Series book entitled, “Evangelism”. He also regularly blogs at the “The Cripplegate”. He is an excellent expository (not topical or textual) preacher.

Immanuel Bible Church is located in the Washington, DC, metro area. It can be very difficult to find biblically sound churches in this area, and IBC has been such an incredible blessing for many (my family included)!

  16. I would like to recommend our church in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in Canada. We have been attending since January this year but have known some people including the Pastor there for a while. It is an hour away from us but is the closest church that we feel is Biblical. This is their website.

    1. Hi Susan- I’d be delighted to include the Howell campus. Just a couple of quick questions for my own clarity:

      1. The Howell campus has the same doctrinal statement as the Ann Arbor campus?
      2. Are there any women serving in pastoral positions on staff at the Howell campus?

  17. My recommendation is Gospel Community Church in Nags Head, North Carolina.
We are followers of Christ in the Outer Banks of North Carolina planting a new church for the glory of God and the salvation and sanctification of others. We began *officially* in March of 2017. We welcome vacationers as well as locals!

  18. Hi Michelle, I just heard your interview with Andrew Rappaport on the Rapp Report. May I suggest a solid church in Washington for your list of recommended churches? It is pastored by a Master’s Seminary grad and I would assume the pastor is “Rappaport approved” as he has spoken here twice.
    Snoqualmie Valley Bible Church
    Carnation, WA
    (the form isn’t recognizing

  19. Please consider adding for anyone visiting the Ottawa Valley area.
My husband is the pastor, so I can vouch that it is doctrinally sound!

    1. Thanks, Miranda! I’ve added Redeemer to the list. I notice y’all have a biblical counseling ministry. Would you happen to have any information on that? I would love to add Redeemer’s counseling ministry to my Biblical Counseling tab (at the top of this page), but I’d like to verify that all of the counselors are certified by a reputable program. If you or someone at your church has a moment to e-mail me that info ( that would be awesome. :0)

    1. Hi Gary-

Thanks so much for the recommendations! I’ve added Grace Bible. Do you have a website address for Community of Grace? I can’t find it on their Facebook page and I need to check out their statement of faith, staff, etc.

  20. I recommend Hilltop Bible Church in Bergton Virginia. I am the pastor there. We are sound in doctrine. Don’t have a website now, but we have a Facebook page entitled Hilltop Bible. Also on Twitter as Hilltop/Mt Zion Bible Churches.

    1. Hi Bob- Thanks so much for the recommendation! One of the reasons I require a website is that I vet every church as best I can to make sure they have a solid statement of faith, no women in improper positions of teaching/leadership, and aren’t using materials authored by false teachers. When y’all get your website ready, just let me know, and I’ll be delighted to look it over for inclusion on the list.:0)

  21. Placerita Bible Church is a great church in Santa Clarita, CA. Pastor is a graduate from the Master’s Seminary and has many leaders and members who have been associated with John MacArthur’s ministries and Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA. Many TMS grads there as well and some in training.

  22. I’ve not actually visited this church, but they make moving to San Antonio Texas very tempting! They are Reformed in their theology, they actually understand and practice church discipline and you’ll be HARD-PRESSED to find a statement of faith that is as exhaustive as this!! (Pages upon pages). If you’re familiar with the FB page “I’ll Be Honest”, these are the fine folks who run that page. Sermons can be listened to online by more than a couple of their preaching elders. Be blessed!!

  23. I highly recommend Christ Fellowship Church in Louisville, KY. The Pastor and elders are tied to Southern Seminary and have very strong doctrine. CFC is a 1689 Second London Baptist Confession church.

    1. Hi Elizabeth- Thanks so much for the recommendations! I have added Barabbas Road and CCCC.

I’m sure the people at WBCC are lovely and kind, but I’m going to decline to add WBCC at this time for two reasons: a) I can’t seem to find a statement of faith page on their website (maybe my eyes are tired and I accidentally overlooked it?) and b) the worship playlist on the “New Here?” page indicates that this church uses Hillsong, Elevation, Bethel, and Jesus Culture music almost exclusively. (If you’re not familiar with the heretical {literally} nature of these organizations, you can find more information at the “Popular False Teachers” tab at the top of this page.)

Again, many thanks for the recommendations! :0)

      1. Hi Michelle – Please remove my recommendation. There are a lot of changes going on right now in our church and I don’t feel comfortable recommending it at this time. Thanks.

      2. Hi Kerensa- I never added it to the list because I never received the church’s web address so I could check it out. Did you mean you’d like for me to delete your comment above?

  24. Hi Michelle, I would like to recommend Valley Christian Fellowship in Menifee California. we meet your theological criteria and are like mind when it comes to the doctrines of grace and the sovereignty of God. There is a church on your list that does not meet your criteria as they are both on your “not allowed” list they are continuationists and against a reformed soteriological position. Anyway, I appreciate your blog keep up the great work. Blessings!

    1. Thanks! Added. I’m so intrigued by the Women’s Health Drive. What a unique way to minister to these ladies who need a little help!

Can you please let me know which church (including the name, city, and state, so I can find it easier) you’re concerned about being on the list so I can check it out? You can either reply to this comment (I’ll keep your reply hidden) or e-mail me at Just to clarify, it’s OK if a church is not Reformed itself or doesn’t agree with Reformed theology. They just can’t be on the list if they’re teaching that Reformed theology/Calvinism is false doctrine or heresy.

  25. Now that I have moved from Maine to Florida I would like to recommend Springs Presbyterian Church in Dunnellon Florida,
This is a wonderful reformed church preaching the full counsel of God, kind, caring members and a Pastor who sat under Dr RC Sproul. We have guest Pastors from St Andrews Church in Sanford on occasion and you know they don’t just go anywhere.

  26. We have found two great churches during our military moves (which can be hard to do) and we rely on opinions of other mature believers and sound resources for every new location. We have been blessed in two different churches since our conversion:
Ocean City, NJ — Ocean City Baptist Church :
Mobile, AL — Christ Fellowship Baptist Church :

  27. I was sulking after not finding anything on this page near me. I decided I would just be happy with a church with no rock music smacking me in the ears upon entry.
Or one that teaches the bible? at least one.

    I found both at

If you like, ask to meet me and I’ll love to help you feel comfortable.

  28. Hi,
I would like to recommend a Protestant church we attended while stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
New Post Chapel on the base (Fort Sill / Lawton Oklahoma) is amazing. Full of wonderful biblically sound Chaplins.

  29. I highly recommend Crossroads Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. They have a very transparent website that can help you navigate who they are and what they teach. It may seem like they are a large church because they have a well developed site, but it’s not. They honor God’s Word and preach the Sovereignty of God and the Bible’s sufficiency. I’m so thankful to have found them!:

    1. Hi Carey-
Thank you so much for taking the time to recommend your church. I’m sure your pastor and church family are wonderful godly people, but I’m afraid I’m going to have to lovingly and respectfully decline, at this time, to add CBC to the list.

There are two reasons for this: a woman serving as the minister of music (I’ve explained about this in this article), and several problematic authors on the recommended discipleship resources list (Richard Foster, Bill Hybels, Ronnie Floyd, Lauren Chandler, and Raechel Myers are the ones I’m familiar with). I hope you’ll understand that this is in no way meant to be a slight against you or your church, and should these issues change, I’ll be glad to reconsider CBC in the future.

  30. Would you consider adding Grace Church Williamsburg (Virginia)? Our is still under construction, but our doctrinal statement would completely align with that of Grace Community Church (John MacArthur). My pastor/husband attended TMS and is currently working on an MABC through TMU. He is also a member of FIRE.

(If this is a duplicate post, feel free to delete! Had a little technical issue on my end…)

  31. I would like to recommend my church. It is a small church with elders and people devoted to God, with a high view of God and His Word, and living out the doctrines of grace. A lovely place to learn and live out the Christian Faith.

  32. Hi Michelle,
I am new to your website and am finding my way around. I’m utilizing the links for finding a new church, and wondered if any of your followers on Facebook would have recommendations for doctrinally sound churches in/near Rockford, IL. I’m not on social media so my access is a bit limited in that regard. Through your blogs, I’ve recently come to realize just how false my two former churches have been. I’m discovering just how ignorant I’ve been and how easily “duped” I was in Bible studies that were suggested by friends who preach about expository teachings and “true doctrine” but all three studies I went to with them were Beth Moore, Priscilla Shier, and Ann Graham Lotz. I honestly had no clue. I’m just sick over how little discernment I’ve had (and have even questioned if I’m truly saved) because my foundation has been thoroughly rocked after reading through numerous pages on your website as well as the links you’ve included. I am SO thankful for finding your site, but boy, has it been a painful journey realizing just how far off course I’ve been.I desperately want to find a church that has sound biblical teaching, as I am literally starting from scratch. Thanks so much to you and your readers if they have any recommendations that I could research.

    1. Hi Shannon-

Welcome! I rejoice with you at the work God is doing in your heart and life, and I’m so glad you’re looking for a good church. Have you had a chance to work through all of the church search engines at the “Searching for a new church?” tab? I did a quick spot check and I’m seeing a couple in Rockford at the Founders link and at The Masters Seminary link (so there are probably more listed at the other church search engine links).

I love my social media followers, but anybody with any sort of beliefs could be following me and could recommend a church that’s not good (and that has happened a few times in the past). I have much more trust in the doctrinal standards of the church search engines I have listed, so, I always recommend thoroughly exhausting those first before resorting to asking my followers. If you check out all of those search engines and still can’t find a good church, let me know, and then we will touch base with my social media followers.

      1. Thank you so much, Michelle, for your response! I was able to find a couple of churches via the Founders link and one I’m considering is Rock Valley Bible Church. I looked at all the sections on their website and there were two things I wanted to ask you about. I fully admit that I’m new on this journey so my questions may not be issues at all, but I wanted your guidance on them, if possible. One was I looked at the music they had listed and I did see some names you had listed as doctrinally sound, but a couple of other names came up that I saw that I’ve seen on some of your resources links as being a problem (Matt Maher being one, and Phillips, Craig & Dean). So I hesitated when I saw that. I also went to the church’s “Resources” link and it had a link for Bible teaching of John MacArthur (great) and also a link for Bible teaching of John Piper (uh….); this is what gave me pause. I wondered if you could look at the site and see if it’s one you’d would add to the recommendation list of fellow readers as above? After what I’ve been through with the last two churches, I admit I’m very unsure of myself at this stage in the journey on recognizing both the red flags as well as the subtler nuances. Website is

        Thank you so very much!

      2. Hi Shannon-

Matt Maher and Phillips, Craig, and Dean are musicians (for anybody reading this who might not know), not theologians, but I completely understand why seeing their names would give you pause. Although I don’t proactively recommend John Piper, he is a generally doctrinally sound brother in Christ, and he’s not someone I’d dismiss a potential church over.

If you think this church is otherwise a viable possibility for you, what I would recommend doing is visiting for a month or so, including visiting Sunday School, to see if it seems like a good fit. You may find that it’s not, for whatever reason, which would make their music and book recommendations moot. But if you visit for a while and it feels like it would be a good fit, set up an appointment with the pastor to lovingly discuss your concerns. And keep in mind that many pastors are ignorant of the biblical issues with popular Christian musicians and pastors. It may have been an honest mistake. Or he may be aware of the issues and is trying to move the church toward more doctrinally sound resources. But you’ll never know until you talk to him.

        Hope this helps. :0)

      3. Hi Michelle,
This helps tremendously and I deeply appreciate your feedback. I’m going to do as you suggested and give this church a try and give it a bit of time to see if it’s a good fit and will take notes on the good as well as any questions or red flags that pop up and proceed from there. Thank you so much for your guidance on this! I feel a spark of hope for the first time in a long time. =o)

  33. I would love to recommend Huikala Baptist Church in Honolulu, Hawaii, as a Bible believing, Bible teaching church. They are full of God’s love for the heart of the city, and Pastor King is great at walking through the Bible scripture, verse by verse.

  34. I would like to recommend Shiloh Christian Union Church in Delta, OH. I am an elder there and can attest that we are unwoke and doctrinally sound. Our most commonly used resources are anything ACBC, J Mac, AIG, etc. Preaching ministry is primarily verse by verse exposition.

    1. Thanks, Matt. I think I’d like to add Shiloh to the list, but I have a couple of questions:

I see you have a couple of elders named Marion and Stacy. Is it safe to assume they are men?

I’m not familiar with the Christian Union denomination. I clicked on the link to their website, but it doesn’t provide a detailed statement of faith. Can you give me a brief description of Christian Union’s doctrinal distinctives on things like baptism, the role of women in the church, cessationism, and anything else that’s pertinent? (You mentioned JMac. Would you say Christian Union’s theology is pretty much in line with his?)

  35. Hello,

I would like to recommend Abundant Life Baptist Church in Lees Summit, MO, and Blue Springs. There also have a strong young adult ministry on Tuesday nights at the Lees Summit campus called Paradigm which is based like The Porch in Texas.

    1. Hi Alyssa- Thank you so much for taking the time to recommend Abundant Life, but I’m afraid I can’t include it on this list. In case you might be interested as to why, here are a few reasons:

The women’s group is currently doing a study of a book by Jackie Hill Perry

There is a Spiritual Formation department listed on the staff page

The counseling ministry uses worldly and unbiblical therapeutic approaches (I say this as someone who has a degree and a half in secular psychology and counseling, so I’m familiar with the methods they’re using) rather than biblical counseling.

The pastor’s book is endorsed by New Apostolic Reformation heretics Samuel Rodriguez and Rod Parsley

Again – sincerely – thank you for taking the time, but this is probably a church I would discourage people from attending.

    1. Thanks, Leah. I’ve added it to the list. Just out of curiosity, what is your pastor’s name? It was not listed under his picture on the “About” page of the website. (Whoever manages your church’s website might like a heads up about that. :0)

  36. I would like to add The Shepherd’s Church, Tewkesbury Massachusetts to your list of Biblically sound churches. Led by Pastor Kendall Lankford. I have been praying for years to find a truly Bible believing and preaching church. So thankful for the teaching at Shepherd’s!

  37. I wholeheartedly recommend Grace Bible Church in Granbury, TX. All of our pastors/elders are doctrinally sound (have very thorough doctrinal statements) and are committed to God’s Word and expository preaching/teaching. And the music is theological excellent! We have an ACBC (Association of Certified Biblical Counseling) counseling ministry, are an official ACBC training center, and our Director (an elder) is a graduate of Master’s University.

    1. Hi Natalie- Thank you so much for taking the time to recommend your church. I’m so glad my site was helpful to you in finding a church home! Unfortunately, The Grove’s website has no statement of faith, and as stated above, I don’t list churches whose websites don’t have a statement of faith. If they ever add one in the future, please do comment again with a recommendation and I’ll be glad to take a look. Thanks again! :0)

  38. Hi Michelle! I enjoy reading your page very much and get great encouragement from your postings. I was excited to see that someone submitted our church and it is on the list…however there is a typo. In the Ohio list it is recorded as Grenwich The Ripley Church. It should be Greenwich. Could you make a correction here so that people can find us on the map? I thank you and look forward to more encouraging posts and the proper handling of scripture. It is refreshing. Bonnie

  39. We have been attending “Branson Bible Church” for over a year now. Our pastor “Jeff Griffis” does a very good job of preaching God’s word. He is an expository preacher. Website: Address: 533 Branson Landing Blvd, Branson, MO 65616

    1. Hi Kimberly- Thank you so much for taking the time to recommend Timberline. I’m so sorry, but I’m afraid I’m going to have to decline to list them at this time. Reasons include: a woman in the position of minister of music, which is a pastoral position; recommended authors include Jackie Hill Perry, and LifeWay Women.

    1. Hi Alysa- Thank you so much for your recommendations. I have added Redeeming Grace to the list. Unfortunately, I was unable to add CLF per my policy (above) on continuationist churches, as they are continuationist.

  40. Hi, I would like you to consider adding Olivet Baptist Church in Ocala Fl to your reader recommended churches. This is an expository preaching, elder lead church, reformed, 1689, church. Website is We know Susan Heck (tell her I said Hi, if you see her) and do her studies as well as Martha Peace. We are very careful what we read and teach in our women’s studies and we check your list as well as Justin Peter’s for false teachers. However, mostly study from the bible. Thank you for considering our church. Melanie Davis, Olivet Ocala

    1. Added. Thanks! (Just FYI- Being a book nerd, I was excited to peruse the “Library” page of the website, and among the many wonderful resources y’all have, I noticed there was a Beth Moore book {Esther}, and several Max Lucado books. I thought somebody might want a heads up about that. :0)

  41. First off, thanks for including Grace Bible Church of Bakersfield.

Four churches that I can highly recommend all pastored by Master’s Seminary graduates (except Faith Bible Fellowship, but definitely TMS approved… I served there for a number of years) and all men/churches I’ve worked with personally.

    Big Lake, Alaska
    Faith Bible Fellowship

    Mackinaw, Illinois
    New Castle Bible Church

    Larksville, Pennsylvania
    High Point Baptist Church

    Elgin, Texas
    Grace Community Baptist Church

  42. Another church for you. Located in Papillion (Omaha suburb), Nebraska. Grace Baptist Church

So very thankful for a church where the Word of God is preached faithfully, joyfully and unashamedly.

      1. Lighthouse Trails considers Calvinism to be heresy, so they’re not a doctrinally sound source. My own children were in Awana years ago, and it was perfectly doctrinally sound at the time, but I will look into it and see if there’s a problem.

      2. Hi Michelle I would like to update the address for The Shepherd’s Church in Tewksbury Massachusetts

New address: 10 Jean Ave Chelmsford, MA 01824

        Thank you!

    1. Hi Johanna- Thank you so much for taking the time to recommend your church. I regret I’m unable to add them to the list as the playlist for RCC North indicates that music from a number of heretical sources (including Audrey Assad {Catholic}, Phil Wickham {Bethel}, Kari Jobe, Hillsong, Kim Walker-Smith {Bethel}, Pentatonix {not a Christian group, promotes homosexuality}, Matt Maher {Catholic}, and possibly others since I’m not familiar with all of the artists) is used in worship. Perhaps this is some sort of innocent oversight or just a matter of the pastor not realizing it’s necessary to vet the source of the music a church uses. If, at some point in the future, all music is from doctrinally sound sources, I’d be delighted to add both churches to the list as this was the only error I encountered, and I actually found the statement of faith and doctrinal distinctives very strong and impressive. Thank you again.

      1. I think that might be a misunderstanding. On Spotify I found a playlist made by someone who is a relatively new believer who used to attend the North church. That playlist is NOT a reflection of the endorsement of the leadership team or the music sung in church. That person was never in a position of authority or leadership.

      2. Oops, sorry after speaking with my husband I need to correct my previous reply. The creator of that Spotify playlist is not who I thought it was (their names are nearly identical!) The creator of that playlist is one of the drummers at the North church. But again, it is not an official representation of music endorsed by our leadership team. It’s his own personal playlist of songs we do at church plus others that he likely just wanted to learn or play along with.

      3. Thank you for the information and correction, Johanna. However, that’s not what’s indicated on the church website where the playlist is located (

The issue is not really who put the playlist together, who put it on the church website, or whether or not that person is/was in any position of leadership. The issue is that the church has put the playlist on their website as “these are the songs we sing.” It is under the heading “What We Sing” with the statement “This playlist is updated weekly to reflect the songs we’re currently singing at Redemption Church.” So whatever the intent of the leadership team might be with regard to endorsing these heretical groups or not, what it looks like to every discerning person who visits that page of the church website is, “Our church is totally fine with these heretical groups.”

Additionally, it raises the question, if your church leadership is not OK with these groups, why is the church is using their songs in the worship service? The website says the church is using these songs on the playlist. You said these are the “songs we do at church”. That’s really the main issue here.

      1. Hey Johanna- Hugs to you, hon. Click on the “Contact & social media” tab in the blue menu bar at the top of this page and drop me a quick email, and we’ll get everything sorted out. :0)

  43. Thank you Michelle for your service. I am recommending Weatherford Presbyterian Church, Weatherford, Texas. It is a member congregation of the PCA and is Biblical, Reformed and Evangelical. The worship is solidly God-centered and includes much Bible verses and readings. I attend and a member of this congregation and can attest to its soundness.

    1. Hi Iff- Thank you so much for the recommendation. I spent quite a while vetting Michael and the church, and while I don’t see any huge red flags with either of them (though there are some more minor issues), there’s something I can’t put my finger on that makes me spiritually uneasy about putting this church on the list. I’m going to decline to do so at this time, but will keep an eye on Michael and may change my mind in the future. Thanks again. :0)

      1. Hello Michelle, thank you so much for taking the time to review this. I can not tell you how much I appreciate your blog and how much it has helped me with filtering out false theology. Women’s ministries always have one or the other.
I have been going to this church for a year and a half. I have been having some doubts myself mostly because they still play hillsong music etc. Would you mind listening to one or two of the sermons when you have a chance? I am very new at all this and I was saved only about 1.5 years ago.Thank you and God bless you!

      2. There’s nothing necessarily heretical in the sermons, but you’re going to grow more through expository preaching, which is something they don’t consistently do. I know of different issues that I prefer not to go into on a website. Please find a different place to go, and Michelle, you’re right in not putting them on your list.

      3. I have briefly looked into Michael Youssef as well – not enough to write an article on him, but enough to know I would recommend people stay away from him and his church.

      4. Thank you again for your comments. I am looking to go to Pray’s mill. Its just a little too far from me right now and I am a new driver so not comfortable driving on the freeway yet. I really appreciate your comments. Although I am curios what are the specific points about the sermons and the paster so I can watch out for it in the next Church I go to and I am able to discern a little bit better the subtle red flags.
Thank you so much again DISCERNINGLOVE and Michele!

  44. Hi Michelle, under churches your readers have recommended, The Shepherd’s Church in Massachusetts is now in the city of Chelmsford, not Tewksbury. They just moved to their own building in December!

  45. Aloha Michelle!

I wanted to let you know that Makakilo Baptist Church in Kapolei, Hawaii recently changed our name to “Makakilo Bible Church.” Website still the same. Doctrine, Statement of Faith, and leadership all still the same as well.

    Keoki Liftee-Kau

    1. Hi Natasha- Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve added MBC to the list. I noticed on the recommended books page of the website several books by Francis Chan and Jen Wilkin. I’m sure your pastors simply aren’t aware of this, but for the past several years, Francis Chan has been partnering in ministry with some of the worst New Apostolic Reformation heretics out there, including Todd White, Benny Hinn, the International House of Prayer (IHOP), Lou Engle and Bethel. (You can find info. on all of those except Benny and Lou at the “Popular False Teachers” tab in the blue menu bar at the top of this page.) There have also been some issues with Jen Wilkin over the past few years. You might want to give them a heads up, as they would probably want to know. Blessings to you!

    1. Hi Iff- There appear to be two women teaching in two of the adult co-ed Sunday School classes: Lindsey T. in the Fellowship Class and Lynn W. in the Harvester Class. However, I have heard of men named Lindsey and Lynn, so I don’t want to jump to conclusions. If you can confirm that both of these people are men, I would be glad to add Midway to the list.

      1. Thank you so much for letting me know. Unfortunately, there is another issue. On the “staff” page of the website, a woman is listed as “music director”. Would you happen to know if this means she is selecting the music for the worship service, leading the congregational singing, and things of this nature that are the duties of a pastor or elder?

      2. Michelle, the senior pastor or pastor preaching the sermon chooses the songs, and all she might do is choose the choral anthem. There’s a choir loft and she directs the choir but not the congregation. The pastor announces the hymn or psalm we are singing from the hymnal or psalter, and the music director never speaks during the services.

  46. Michelle, please remove Gospel Community Church in Nags Head, North Carolina. Our little church has closed permanently. Thank you for adding us in the past!

  47. Hello! This is a wonderful resource! I’d like to recommend Lansing Bible Church in Lansing, IL, just south of Chicago, by the Indiana border. My husband is the pastor, Jonathan Williams, a graduate of The Master’s Seminary. We are doctrinally sound and a very loving church and would love to have you join us!! Our website is: and we have an app that is available under the same name as well. Thank you for getting the word out while we get the Word out!☺️

    1. Hi Cora- Thanks so much for the recommendation! Your church sounds lovely, and it is probably one I would add to the list, but as stated above, I don’t add churches that don’t have a statement of faith page on their website. If y’all should ever add a statement of faith page, please re-submit your church for consideration. I’d be delighted to take another look.

  48. Grace Korean Bible Church in Glendale, CA is a fairly new church, but would love to grow! It has both English and Korean ministries!

    1. Hi Brandi- I’d really like to check it out, but I’m getting a “privacy error” error message from your website. I’ve tried it on two different devices and I’ve tried getting to it through Google and from your church’s Facebook page, and it’s the same error message every time. If you can get me a good link, I’d be delighted to check it out. :0)

  49. For Kansas:

    Hutchinson, KS
    Grace Bible Church

    Liberal, KS
    Redeemer Bible Church
(A recent church plant by Countryside Bible Church in Meade, KS)

    Overland Park, KS
    Countryside Church

    Wichita, KS
    Cornerstone Bible Church

    McPherson, KS
    Cornerstone Bible Church

I’m sure (and hopeful) that there are several more, but these are ones I can think of right now.

    1. Hi Ashlee- Thanks so much for taking the time to recommend this church. I’m afraid I’m going to have to decline to add them to the list for the following reasons:

There is no staff page where I can check to see if this church has women on staff as pastors or in other biblically inappropriate positions.

The men’s ministry is doing a study by Craig Groeschel, who is a false teacher and yokes with many false teachers.

The women’s ministry is doing a study by Karen Ehman, who mishandles Scripture and works for Lysa TerKeurst’s Proverbs 31 Ministries.

The playlist on the youth page features music by Hillsong, Phil Wickham (Bethel), and Kanye West.

The upcoming women’s retreat features false teacher, Sheila Walsh.

  50. Michelle, have you considered adding the church directory from ( to your Searching for a New Church page? Seems like a pretty good resource!

Also, I was helping a friend search for a church and used the “I’ll be honest” church finder link from your page — the only church that popped up for their town (Indianapolis) was a blatantly KJV-only (see the “preaching” page). When I checked other towns, good churches popped up, but I couldn’t figure out their vetting process. I don’t even know how our church got on their list!

    1. Hi Suzanne- The Founders site is at the very first search engine listed at the top of that page. :0)

I don’t know what IBH’s vetting system is either, that’s why there’s a disclaimer on my page. I would encourage you to alert them to remove that church from their site. Sometimes things slip through the cracks.

      1. Hi Liz- Thanks so much for recommending your church! Quick question – does this mean Stanley Park is a King James Only church? (In other words, they believe the KJV is the only inspired, acceptable translation to use, that using other English translations like the ESV or NASB is somehow sinful or wrong, etc.?)

  51. Trinity Presbyterian Church
    Spartanburg, SC

“Trinity Presbyterian Church is a founding congregation of Evangel Presbytery, a new association of reformed churches committed to historic presbyterian polity, reformed confessionalism, freedom of conscience regarding the mode and timing of baptism, fervent pastoral care, and church unity.”

  52. I’d like to add three LBCF1689 Reformed Baptist churches to your Wyoming list. These include my own Trinity Bible church in Powell, WY and our church plants in Worland, WY and Cody WY. Thank you for all you do Michelle and may God bless your ministry and this endeavor greatly. May the Gospel of our Lord and Savior abound and To God be the Glory!

    1. Added all three, and added TBC to my Biblical Counseling resource. Thanks!

I noticed that TBC has The Gospel Coalition listed on its resources page. Just FYI – A lot of people don’t realize it, but TGC has been getting more and more into the woke/social justice stuff over the last several years. Just thought your pastor might want to know.

    1. Thanks so much. I’ve added it to the list. Just a couple of things I wanted to mention:

Unless I’m missing it, there’s nowhere on the website that mentions the city and state where the church is located. I see the street address, but not the city and state. If you know who maintains the website, you may want to give him/her a heads up.

Also, your women’s ministry director might be interested in this info on Jen Wilkin:

    1. Hi Philip- Thank you so much for taking the time to recommend your church. I’m sure it is a loving and warm church family, but I’m afraid I’m going to have to decline to add it to the list at this time. Looking at the GBC songbook on the “worship” page, I’m seeing songs by Phil Wickham (close ties to Bethel), Matt Maher (Catholic), Hillsong, The Gospel Coalition, Ghost Ship (Mars Hill/Mark Driscoll), and numerous songs from The Village Church (which has really taken a turn for the woke over the past few years). The women’s group is doing a study by Jen Wilkin. I’m seeing quotes from Tim Keller and Mike Cosper. GBC is part of Acts 29, which I know is continuationist-friendly (although it’s unclear to me whether GBC is itself continuationist). Taken separately, any one of those things might not be a big deal. Together, that’s too many red flags for me to feel comfortable adding GBC to the list, because all of those things are going to raise red flags for people who utilize this list.

  53. Hi Michelle,
Thanks, for the tweet pointing out some oversights on churchs’ site. After looking at ours I realized we did not have the Pastor’s name and address visible. (Although it was in the location tab.)

I’d like to resubmit. We are a reformed Baptist church. As of now, we have one pastor/elder on staff. (He’s my husband) We do not believe women should be in preaching roles as scripture states. We have a women’s ministry that follows the Titus 2 model and we are researching reformed women’s studies for future studies. We attended the recent Open Hearts in a closed World conference. Excellent! Thank you so much for your ministry.

    -Melanie Moody

    Cornerstone Church
    Plano, TX

  54. Hi there! I have so greatly enjoyed and learned from your blog! Also I’d like to recommend a rare gem of a church in Sterling, VA–Cascades Bible Church

They are a small, family-oriented church with an excellent pastor who is courageous in his commitment to teaching the truths of the Bible, even ones that are considered culturally controversial. Highly recommend!

    Liked by 1 person

  55. Jenks Bible Church in Oklahoma should be added to the list! We found them through 9Marks. Wonderful church with weekly expositional teaching of God’s Word and faithful leaders.

      1. Added, thanks!

Megan- Would you happen to know if the counselors in your church’s biblical counseling ministry are ACBC (Association of Certified Biblical Counselors) certified? If so, I’d love to also add your church to my Biblical Counseling resource (in the blue menu bar at the top of this page).

  56. Hi Michelle – When you have time – you can remove: Moodus- Harvest Church (Orthodox Presbyterian) from the CT list. The church has been disbanded. In His Grip, Carey

    1. Hi Jackeya- Faith Family looks like a great church, and I was all set to add it until I looked at the Recommended Readings page and saw numerous names that are, understandably, going to cause people looking for a new church to question Faith Family’s commitment to sound doctrine. I’m sure the pastor just isn’t aware of the turn many of these once trustworthy (or thought to be trustworthy) authors and speakers have taken, but I can’t, in good conscience, list this church when I’ve declined others for less. If you’re still in touch with the pastor and want to give him a heads up, some (I’m not familiar with everyone listed) of the problematic names I’m seeing are Jen Wilkin, Jackie Hill Perry, Francis Chan, Tim Keller, Lecrea, J.D. Greear, The Gospel Coalition, Theology Gals, Russell Moore, Matt Chandler, and the recommendation of The Message “Bible”. The main issue with most (not all) of these is wokeness / social justice.

Should Faith Family more carefully vet the authors/speakers it recommends and remove the problematic authors/speakers from its website, I’d be happy to reconsider them for inclusion on the list.

  57. I recommend Pleasant Valley Bible Church where we have attended for little over a year. With this last move, we found our church home before we chose our house. Both pastors (English/Spanish ministries) and one of our elders are Masters grads. It is ROCK SOLID.

    1101 E Ponderosa Dr
    Camarillo, CA 93010

  58. Hi Michelle,
We moved to Bixby, OK in June. I have been attending Susan Heck’s Bible study on Tuesday nights but our family is attending Arrow Heights Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. Pastor Andy Taylor was the last to receive his doctorate under John MacArthur at Master’s. This church is not currently listed on TMS church directory but Pastor Andy is in the process of contacting them as he filled out the necessary paperwork upon graduation. We love the great, expository teaching here….every Sunday!

    Arrow Heights Baptist Church

    1. Thanks so much, Jill. I went ahead and added AHBC, but you may want to give your pastor a heads up on a couple of things on the “Family Ministry Resources” page (under “Equipping”). First, I’m sure your pastor just doesn’t know (a lot of people don’t) but there are some serious issues of heresy with The Bible Project. My friend, Pastor Gabe Hughes, has delved into them extensively and demonstrates from Scripture where they go astray. Click here for his article/video.

Also, the YouVersion app is under the direction of false teacher, Craig Groeschel, and his church. It contains teachings by a lot of false teachers.

As I said, I’m sure he just doesn’t know, but if I were a pastor, I would want to know about any false doctrine/teachers I’m potentially exposing my flock to, even accidentally.

  59. Hello! We had been searching for a sound church with expository preaching and would like to recommend Calvary Baptist Church in Rockford, Illinois
Small, loving, family church that preaches and teaches straight from the Bible for Sunday School, Sunday Service, and Wednesday Bible Study by the pastor. Thank you for all you do

  60. I can recommend Ahava Baptist Church in Plant City, Florida. The website is Pastor Mike Holland is our pastor and Pastor Fred Wright is our associate pastor.

    1. Hi Kristina- Thanks so much for your recommendation. ABC looks like a great church, and probably one I would add to the list, but if you’ll notice the very last item in the bullet point list near the top of the page, I don’t list churches that don’t have a statement of faith on their website, and I can’t seem to find one on ABC’s website. If they add a statement of faith page at some point in the future, please let me know. I would be delighted to take a look at it and consider ABC for inclusion on the list.

  61. Dear Michelle, In looking for a church in my new city where I just moved, I found your great site and article. I would like to recommend a church in Lufkin, TX where I just moved from. It is the first expositional teaching church I have ever been to. Wow, what a difference in my walk with the Lord. Keltys First Baptist Church in Lufkin, TX.

  62. Hi, I am looking for a new sound doctrine church so I went to a recommended church on this website in Florida in Destin- the Presbyterian one and I found out that Presbyterian church baptizes babies which according to John MacArthur (one of the recommended teachers on this website) is not biblical. So I think Presbyterian church isn’t doctrine sound church and it shouldn’t be on the list. That church was the only recommendation in my area.. how can I find different church where they really teach the truth ?

    1. Hi Monika- One of John MacArthur’s best friends was RC Sproul (before he passed away), a Presbyterian pastor. We can disagree with our Presbyterian friends about baptism (which I certainly do), yet understand that they are still good brothers and sisters in Christ and “really teach the truth.”

That being said, have you exhausted all of the church search engines at the Searching for a new church? tab (in the blue menu bar at the top of this page)? You’ll find lots of good, non-Presbyterian churches there, hopefully one in your area. :0)

      1. Hi Michelle, thank you for responding but now I’m even more confused and lost. I just left a church because there was a guest women pastor preaching on a few Sundays sermons and I thought it’s a false church because they allowed that. Is this only disagreement too ? When I said I’m looking for a church where they really teach the truth I meant the whole truth so if Presbyterian church teach differently about baptism then the Bible then they don’t teach the whole truth, right ? I also learned about false teachers lately so I m very confused now. Why can we disagree about baptism but not women pastors ? What’s the difference and how should I know things like that ? And the biggest question who should I believe if there are so many wolves in sheepskins ?

      2. Hi Monika – Have you found a good church yet? That’s step one because sitting under good biblical preaching and teaching will answer a lot of your questions. Also, if you will carefully study all of the links at the “What to look for in a church” section of the link I gave you above (especially the links in the second paragraph of this article), that will answer some of your questions, too.

Regarding your question about women pastors, I think you’ll find the articles in my Rock Your Role series (I’d recommend starting with Jill In the Pulpit) to be helpful, as well as this article.

  63. Hi Michelle! I would like to add First Baptist Church in Pound, WI (about 30-40 minutes north of Green Bay) I can’t imagine the time it takes you to review all these submissions, but am truly grateful for your ministry.

      1. Oh! I put it under my email address. I must have misunderstood. Sorry. It’s

    1. Hi Ann- Thanks so much for submitting your church. I’m having trouble finding the statement of faith page on the website. Am I, perhaps, just missing it? (I don’t list churches that don’t have a statement of faith, “What we Believe,” etc., on their website.)

      1. Hi Ann- I promise I’m not trying to be difficult, :0) but that’s not a sufficient statement of faith. This is what a statement of faith looks like: (just an example for structure and detail)- specific, detailed beliefs about Scripture, the Trinity, etc. If y’all were approved by the G3 church network, I know you had to affirm the 1689 LBC. If the website stated somewhere that NewSong affirms and holds to the 1689, that would be sufficient (because the 1689 is a statement of faith), but the way it is, I’m afraid I can’t list it. If NewSong ever does add a statement of faith to the website, please let me know, and I’ll be glad to take another look. Thanks again. :0)

      2. Woohoo! Look at y’all – and a shiny new G3 affiliation, too! Thanks so much for staying on this and getting back to me, Ann! I’m excited to add NewSong to the list! :0)

  64. Hi Ms Michelle I live in Shawnee, Okla and am looking for a Church. Have you any suggestions. Also what distance should I drive I really like First Baptist Church in Mustang but that is about an 1hr drive how would I get involved. I am single 58yrs old taking care of my elderly mother. I am about 12yrs in the faith was delivered out of homosexuality lifestyle. I study alot on my own Pastor John MaCarthur, R.C. Sproul, Paul Washer I just feel I really need to be involved in a Church…Thanks so much for any suggestions.

    1. Hi Paula- You’re absolutely right, you need to be joined to a local church. Be sure you check the Searching for a new church? tab in the blue menu bar at the top of this page, too. There are lots of good church search engines you can check out. I would recommend starting with Founders, then The Master’s Seminary, then the rest.

When it comes to distance, I would say the closer the better so it’s easier for you to get involved. You’ll have to prayerfully consider how far is too far.

      1. You’re very welcome. It is my pleasure to serve you in Christ. I’m taking a moment to pray that God will put you in a great church family. Blessings to you and your mother, too. :0)

  65. Michelle
I’d love for you to check out our church: GracePoint Church, Coppell, TX.

Thanks for your diligence is proclaiming the truth. You are my favorite resource along with John MacArthur.

    1. Hi Patrice- Thank you for your kind words and for suggesting your church. Can you give me the church’s website? As I said in the article, I can’t consider a church without the website.

      1. Hi Patrice- Thank you again for submitting your church for consideration for inclusion on the list. At this time, I’m going to have to decline to add GracePoint to the list for a couple of reasons:

        1. GracePoint’s statement of faith in Section X on Spiritual Gifts seems to indicate that GracePoint is a continuationist church to one degree or another. (The wording is in alignment with continuationism, and a cessationist church would not word this section this way.) As stated above, I do not include continuationist churches on the list.

        2. The “Live Services” page under “Resources” implies that it is acceptable to be an “online only attender” of the church and, possibly, that “attending online” is equivalent to membership and faithful, in person attendance (assuming one is not Providentially hindered from attending) at the gathering of the church. If accurate, this is unbiblical ecclesiology.

  66. Hi Ms. Michelle,
Thank you so much I am going to try Bowlegs Baptist Church it is about 35 min. drive but I do not think its to far they do not have a website as it is a very small Church its on Facebook. Also I did attend Immanuel Baptist Church here in Shawnee,Okla they are looking for a Pastor and after I did some checking alot of the ladies classes are using Jen Wilkin study guides and videos. There was another Heritage Church Shawnee graduate from Masters Seminary but there is no statement of Faith if you can let me know what you think on either of those it would be greatly appreciated. I am getting so discouraged. Thank you so much for all you do love listening to your Podcast and reading all your articles hope to get to a Conference soon.

    1. Hi Paula- Thank you for your kind words. I’m so sorry you’re growing discouraged. I’m afraid I can’t vet churches “on demand” (and even if I could, I couldn’t do it without the church’s website).

Also, just to make sure I’m being clear – the information in this article is about recommending churches for inclusion on this list, not about attending a particular church. In other words, I’m not saying, for example, that a church has to have a website rather than just a Facebook page in order for you to attend it, I’m just saying I can’t include it on this particular list unless it has a website.

The last time you commented, I suggested that you thoroughly exhaust all of the church search engines here. Have you had a chance to do that? Also, have you tried Christ Reformed Church in Shawnee? You had mentioned it in a previous comment and a friend of mine who lives in OK also recommended it.

      1. I am so sorry for bringing that up on this site. I totally understand and yes I check the Church engine on your site a couple of times a week. As for the Christ Reformed Church I did attend but it was not for me. Thank you again for all your help.

      2. No worries! I wasn’t fussing at you, just trying to make sure I was being clear so you wouldn’t misunderstand. Regarding Christ Reformed Church, I know not every church is a perfect fit, but I would encourage you to consider whether or not you might be in a “beggars can’t be choosers” situation.

      3. Paula, I saw that Shawnee Bible Church is on the FIRE listing on Michelle’s church finder page. I met two of the pastors of that church at a biblical counseling conference last fall. Have you checked them out yet? Being both FIRE members and part of ACBC would be two marks in their favor for me, for sure, in a search for both solid doctrine and discipleship/body-life.

      4. Thank you Jeff I really appreciate your help and Michelle you are spot on beggars can’t be choosers 🙂 Thank you both for taking the time to help me. Blessings to both

  67. Heartland Bible Church
    Lincoln, NE
    Pastor Scott Hecht

    Thank you for your ministry!

  68. I’d like to highly recommend Grace Bible Church in Conway, AR. They are a reformed Baptist church that is committed to expository preaching. Their website is:

  69. Golden, Colorado (in the foothills) Chapel in the Hills. Teaching pastor: Todd Fletcher / Alumnus of Master’s Seminary

Chapel holds ( in large part) to the 1689 Baptist Confession of faith. Women only teach children and women. No questionable bible studies with questionable teachers/books.
Since attending Chapel we have had a major family trauma and the elders have helped my husband and I navigate/get through biblically. Humble men, all of them, who love God’s word. The criteria for elders prescribed by Paul are upheld.

  70. Waco Family Baptist Church, located in Waco, TX. I’ve been a member here for several years, served as an intern, and stood in the pulpit several times. We are Reformed Baptist (1689 confessional), and our website is if you want to learn more about us. All our sermons are on SermonAudio.

    1. Hi Taylor- Thanks so much for submitting your church. It looks like a church I would most likely add to the list, but, unfortunately, I see nowhere on the website that indicates who the pastor, elders, etc., are, and, as the requirements above state, I don’t list churches that don’t have that info somewhere on the website. Should this info. be added in the future, I’d really appreciate it if you’d re-submit WFBC so I can reconsider it. Thanks!

  71. We have been members of Christ Church Bentonville (PCA) for 3 1/2 years now. We are a church plant from our former church Trinity Grace in Rogers, AR. We are so thankful for this church and would love to have you join us if you are in the area and looking for a doctrinally sound church.

  72. I am thrilled to recommend:

    Grace Community Bible Church Austin

Henry Anderson is a graduate of TMS. He is a true expositor of the Word & is FAR more spiritually mature than his 29 years. He uses Scripture to explain Scripture (no personal experiences), the church’s doctrinal statement is excellent, & the sweet fellowship with likeminded believers is a wonderful blessing.

    1. Hi Jan- Thank you for taking the time to recommend your church. Unfortunately, I have heard conflicting reports about some of the dynamics in this particular church and I have no idea who to believe (and I’m not at liberty to discuss it), so I’m going to err on the side of caution and decline to list it at this time.

  73. I’ve reached out to Redeeming Grace Church in Soap Lake, WA a few times as my wife and I vacation there from time to time. The building at the address listed has a temporary chain link fence all around the property, and it’s a former restaurant that went out of business. I’ve never gotten a response, and it appears they only meet online to this day.
