Unfortunately, Jacob: Journaling the Journey is now out of print. Watch this space for future announcements regarding re-release of this title.

Strap on your sandals and get ready for the journey of a lifetime.  Jacob’s lifetime—and yours.  Jacob: Journaling the Journey follows the story of the patriarch as he treks through the desert and grows from an impetuous mama’s boy into one of the founding fathers of the faith. Along the way, you’ll meet his quirky, yet lovable family members—such as “Manipu-Mom” Rebekah, “Wild Thing” Esau, and Rachel, Queen of High Maintenance—who played such vital roles in his life.

And you thought your family was dysfunctional.

What could God possibly have to say to us as women through the life of this rough and tumble Old Testament hero?  Plenty.  And with the distinctive journaling format of this study, each woman can learn to rightly apply God’s word to the unique situations in her own life.

So, come take a stroll across the sands of time with Jacob, and take the first step on your journey to a closer walk with God.

  1. This looks like a good book for me. I just vented on my blogg about a small hurt that a family memebr caused. Thank you for teaching God’s word.

  2. Thanks, Diane. I hope you’ll enjoy “Jacob” and that your walk with the Lord will be deepened.

  6. Hi Michelle,
Loved your blog. I lead a bible study group and we are finishing up one now. The next one I am thinking will be “Believing Jesus: a Journey through Acts” Do you have any insight on the sound Doctrine of this bible study?

    • Hi Ashley-

Thanks so much for your kind words.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend using any materials by Lisa Harper. She’s a contributing writer at Proverbs 31. She has partnered with Christine Caine, Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, Lisa Bevere, and Victoria Osteen in at least one conference at Joel Osteen’s “church.” She is connected to IF: Gathering. And, she seems to think Joyce Meyer, Christine Caine, and Priscilla Shirer are kosher. (If you’re not familiar with some or all of these folks, click on the “Popular False Teachers” link at the top of this page.) Birds of a feather tend to flock together.

I usually recommend that Bible study leaders (and individuals) simply choose a book of the Bible and teach through it systematically from beginning to end. It’s amazing how much more of an impact that has on both the teacher and the class than a “pre-packaged” Bible study.

If you feel you need to do a study written by someone else, though, I would recommend taking a look at Jen Wilkin’s stuff, the studies written by any of the women on these two lists (1, 2), or one of the studies on my “Bible Studies” tab at the top of this page. Also, don’t be afraid to use a study written by a man. There are some great studies out there written by godly men like these.
